The Opportunity

Teradata is seeking a Benefits Specialist for a role within the Global Benefits Department in the Total Rewards organization. This role will support Teradata’s benefit programs including health, income protection, disability, wellness, and other perks. The focus of the role will be on the US absence management, wellness programs, and benefits program administration. Primary Responsibilities

  • Administers the leave of absence programs for 2000+ US employees including but not limited to meeting with employees to explain the leave process and options, coordinating with external disability insurance vendor, maintaining leave of absence documentation and systems, coordinating with the benefits and payroll teams to ensure accurate benefits and pay while an employee is out on leave, stay current with our claims adjudicators to ensure accurate and timely updates, provide updates on claims with HR business partners and managers
  • Manages workers’ compensation cases including, but not limited to, documenting, reporting, tracking, and monitoring cases. Partner with workers’ compensation vendor.
  • Maintains informational tools, knowledge, and compliance with current regulations relating to FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL, USERRA, workers’ compensation, state sick leave requirements, and other benefit regulations.
  • Partner with our leave vendor to outsource leave administration
  • Review the leave policies to ensure they are market competitive. Put forth recommendations that align our benefits to our company culture and DE&I initiatives
  • Conduct new employee benefit orientations and provide other educational opportunities throughout the year
  • Watch for trends, put forth recommendations, and implement wellness initiatives
  • Support ongoing administration of various benefit programs, which may include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, FSA, and more
  • Support annual Benefits Open Enrollment processes including, the RFP process, new vendor implementation, system testing, and communications
  • Test new business processes, systems modifications, and updates that impact benefit processing
  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries escalated from our Shared Services team
  • Work with benefits vendors and collaborate with internal teams to manage benefit programs and to quickly resolve issues
  • Support the administration related to financial benefit programs including ESPP
  • Maintain the integrity of benefits data by performing audits and reports
  • Create and update benefits collateral, intranet site, and communications
  • Build a documentation library to enhance employee self-service in the ServiceNow knowledge base including process documentation of benefit programs
  • Support yearly benefits compliance tasks
  • Participate in US and Global projects as needed

Qualifications, Experiences, And Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with an emphasis on leave of absence and benefits
  • Understanding and knowledge of the benefits market and best practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Exposure to benefit plan laws, processes, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong problem solving and issue resolution skills
  • Highly proficient in excel with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have experience working with HR technology (ideally Workday and ServiceNow) and Microsoft Office
